Regular dentist visits do more than keep your smile attractive. They also tell our dentist a great deal about your overall health, including whether or not you may be at risk for chronic disease.
The first step is to call our office and set up a consultation appointment. Consultations are a great opportunity for you to meet our dentist who is not only concerned with just the teeth themselves but the connection of oral health to the rest of the body. Our dentist will ask you about your health history, educate you about how your oral health impacts the health throughout your body, and talk to you about the procedures done at our clinic.
Forms and Records
If, after your consultation appointment, you wish to be treated by our dentist, we'll set up your treatment appointment. Before you come in for treatment, you will need to fill out the New Patient forms and give us your medical and dental history. We recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled time to complete these forms. Be as precise as possible when answering the questions as any incorrect answer may affect your future treatment.
Our office also gives you the option of completing the forms beforehand. That is, you can visit our website and fill out the health history forms online. This information will be stored in our database and evaluated prior to your session. To download and fill the forms out prior to your appointment, please click the following link:
After evaluating your dental health history, our dentist will examine your gums, teeth, and mouth as part of a comprehensive exam, done to assess the state of your oral health. An important part of the comprehensive exam is the cleaning. The teeth and mouth are thoroughly cleaned before the taking of X-rays.
Our dentist will look for any sensitivity, decay, and redness around the gums and teeth during the examination. And, even when our dentist will have already studied your medical and dental history from the forms you filled, you may still be asked questions about your teeth during the examination in case any issues not mentioned in the forms are found.
After completing the comprehensive exam, our dentist will take an X-ray of your mouth to get a clearer picture of the condition of your teeth and bones and to better analyze oral issues, diseases, and cavities. Panoramic X-rays are the most common types of dental X-rays used as they provide a much detailed view of the teeth and bones, which makes them ideal to spot any impacted teeth or fractures. X-rays only take a few minutes and are completely safe.
Post Examination Discussion
After the dental checkup, our dentist will discuss the findings with you. Our dentist will talk to you about any problems or decay identified and also mention the various treatment options that are offered at our clinic, as well as their costs.
As soon as your session is over, it may be necessary to schedule your follow-up appointments. These follow-up sessions will mostly be for cleaning and preparing your teeth for any upcoming procedure. We recommended that you do not miss your follow-up visits to avoid any cavities, tooth decay, or oral health issues from developing. During these routine check-ups, your teeth are regularly cleaned and treated to make sure that they stay in good shape.
